Cool-Aide Song A Day: Oh Yeah

I was in Wawa one day and they were playing Rihanna’s “Pon Di Replay” and I fell in love with the drum pattern. I called Chum immediately and was like “yo make me something with a drum pattern like this.” A few weeks later this track is what I got.
Around the time I wrote this I was traveling and doing shows as much as possible to forget what I was going through with that girl and I was also out partying as much as I could. There was a stretch when I was in Amsterdam one day then Louisville Kentucky and then Athens, Greece in a 5 day period. I was going hard!
I was staying in Berlin for an extended period of time when I wrote this and it just came to me after a bunch of evenings of partying until 9am and waking up at 3pm and doing it again. I remember being in the studio recording something else with the homey LMNZ and humming it to myself excited to work on the track.
Again I felt some trepidation when I was writing this because I didn’t feel like I “rapping” enough on it. I took solace in how cool it sounded and how true to life it was. I do in fact smile because I’m me and you’re not.
This was the first track I straight up “sang” on. We were mad surprised that it came out as well as it did. We did the take and looked at each other like “Holy shit that doesn’t sound that bad!” So I laid all the singing parts real quick scared that I’d forget how to do it HAHA.
Chum sampled the Beatles on the intro and we joked about hoping to get sued so it’d help with the promo of the album.
I posted it on Myspace and my mom texted me like “Are you ok?” She actually listens to the words I guess.
Party people really love this song.

Impose Magazine Interview

Impose Magazine Feature

Impose Mag Bothers Cool-Aide

It’s a new year (Happy New Year!) and we hope you got your copy of “Flavor Ade” already. If not then you are missing out on the party!

Impose Magazine however is NOT missing out on the party!

Before the year closed out a good guy by the name of Sjimon Gompers called us up while I made pasta and we chopped it up for a few hours. It was kinda like talking to a long lost friend or relative.

The result is this feature “Bothering Cool-Aide”

Enjoy

Flavor Ade New London Release Party Recap!

Blacastan & KWOTE Scriptures

First of all I want to say that the New London Release Party was a fun time and a great success. Only one of the many Cool-Aide parties to come, Chum and I aimed to make the event more of a party than a rap show. We had the incomparable KWOTE Scriptures hosting the evening. He was very funny, engaging, and added flavor to the evening. We also had Blacastan perform. He rocked a dope set as well. Fishr Pryce was on the tables briefly as well. I personally would have liked to see him rock out some more but it was great to seehim killin’ it in Philly. We had a tweetboard that made for a lot of funny moments during the evening and in a lot of ways may have helped bring people start doing things they may not have otherwise done that evening.

We had a lot of good people in the building that evening and rather than have me tell you

Lemme tweet that!

what I thought of the show, I figured I’d have them tell you in their own words. I mean you already have “Flavor Ade” I imagine you’ve had enough of me bragging. Here we go! All pictures by Michele Pacheco!

The party definitely doesn’t stop after the jump!

Philly Flavor Ade Release Party Recap

This is Philly You Welcome to Come CHECK US!

The high quality pictures in this fantastic post are provided by the equally fantastic Liz Padova. She’s a food snob and great photog. Get to know her. The low quality ones are from my favorite cousin Tamika’s camera. Ladies she’s the girl cousin I call if you need to get rocked!

Philadelphia is notorious for its lack of support and even so every once in awhile I get a strong feeling of optimism and I say “hey, why not do a show at home for once.”  The Philly release party for Flavor Ade was one of those times. I enlisted a bunch of rappers as well as super DJ Fishr Pryce and said “hey guys let’s have a party!” Verbal Tec recently had a his first child (congrats big homey!) and Dos-Noun just moved back to Pittsburgh so Parts of Speech has been all but dead as a group for a few years now but they are easily 2 of my favorite rappers in the universe so I convinced them to come out. Dos-Noun flew out in the middle of his finals. He is the truest. Has-Lo is featured on the “I’m the Best Mayne” and is easily one of the most unsung emcees in Philadelphia so it was a must that I have him rock as well. And last but not least my dude Al Mighty formerly of a group called MAGr from Camden was on the bill to rock it because he’s dope and I like him. Basically myself and Dom Pinelli from Public Axis put together a show that I wanted to see.

And everyone delivered. Fishr Pryce was killin it on the tables. He had people rockin’. I was milling around getting drinks trying to get my head in the game and Fish and me dancing and greeting people that I hadn’t seen in years and some that had just never seen me perform before. Before he played I’m pretty sure I was in a bad mood because of issues with the sound and things but once Fish got on I was back in it and was excited to party!

Much much more after the jump!

KevinNottingham.com Flavor Ade review

Flavor Ade gets a 7 out of 10

The reviews keep coming in and people keep wanting to join the Cool-Aide party!

They say:

Cool-Aide attempts to liven things up a little bit and they do. MiC K!NG shows that he is fully capable of handling the solo MC task. He can spit; his flow and one-liners are something that the listener can appreciate on the album. There are times that the boasting lyrics over the high tempo breaks do get tired, and may have you taking a break from the LP. But, there are also instances that this hits homes with the listener, and has the crowd jumping. The feel of this album really all depends on what kind of mood you are in; if you are in an upbeat, party type of mood, then you will really enjoy this album.

KevinNottingham.com is feeling the flavor. You get your glass yet?
